I live in a city that is major hub for internet dating. Men from English speaking countries go on-line to find an Asian wife. There are several website that promote this activity, but my city has a special website. Women can pay equivalent to almost $2,000USD to have their profiles posted on this website.
Whenever I go to the Walmart area, I always see couples (normally an older caucasian male with a young female). Why? I don't fully understand the man's motives, but the woman gets a visa to a developed nation.
Tonight I translated between an American man and a Chinese woman who are going to be getting married tomorrow. It wasn't a difficult conversation. He didn't have any black shoes and she wanted him to buy some tonight because they would not have time in the morning. He was tired and did not understand why they could not wait until morning. I am confused as to how much marital bliss there can be when you have to use a computer or a translator to talk to eachother.
I guess they are both getting what they want. If only they knew that it isn't What they need.
